Moroccan scene has vibrated with many events during 2005, through the many festivals that have taken place throughout the Kingdom. Some festivals have even become annual appointments, including Fes Festival of world sacred music, Essaouira festival and Marrakech Film Festival. Some others have just seen the light of the day such as Casablanca Festival.
Essaouira hosts every year 5000,000 fans of Gnawa music for an exceptional event swayed by the mixed tunes of an exotic style. Essaouira festival represents a meeting of tolerance and understanding. The event displays images of youth, liveliness and spontaneity. A crowd of different races, religions and cultures gather to contemplate in awesome the wonderful scenes performed by Gnawa. Considering the conflicts that are splitting the world, Fes Festival of World Sacred Music is an event which united its audience taking it back to its spirituality. Many artists from all over the world come to the Spiritual capital of Morocco to celebrate their unity for a better tomorrow. Agadir, the southern capital of Souss, hosted the second festival of Amazighs. Under the theme “Timitar, signs and culture”, the festival has brought together over 400 artists from all over the world to perform in 46 shows. Last November, Marrakech hosted a famous cinema event. The Marrakech Film Festival (FIFM) is no longer to be presented. After few editions, the event has become an annual international appointment of the 7th art. The organisers of the event worked hard on the improvement of the festival's image through a careful selection of the participating films and guests. The FIFM is the main factor of the economic and artistic boost witnessed by the southern city. The festival has started to be one of the distinguished festivals such as Cairo and Cannes festivals. Considering the FIFM success and its impact on the economy of Marrakech, Casablanca got the lesson and attempted to have a festival of its own. The festival was grandiose, multidisciplinary and well organised. The first edition was proved to be an incontestable success. source: MoroccoTimes.com |
